Postpartum PR...Check!

Well I did it... I broke through to the other side of 30 for my 5k time! It was a chilly morning (56) for this time of year and damp too! The baby hadn't been feeling well, so we decided I would go to this race solo (which was a bummer) - no need to make things worse. It was a small local event, so I ended up getting some bling (I like bling) - I placed 2nd for my age group, a nice boost for the old ego ;)

I really think this running clinic I am doing on Monday nights is working! I felt so good out there today, and I wasn't alone in reaching my goals. Marilyn also surpassed her goal, I asked her before the race if she had a goal and she said, first she wanted to finish, and then maybe under 35minutes - well she finished in 33:06 - which is so awesome! Shelia also placed, first for her group! There were quite a few members of the Grand Strand Running Club - nice to see that ya know?

Kristen was there with two of her three kids, Kayla and Cameron ran the race and everyone placed & got a little bling...lol Kayla was so excited to get a medal, and Cameron, well that little speed devil blew by me and finished in 28:02 (did I mention he is 8?!?!) Kudos to Kristen for getting the kids out there, what a nice Mothers Day weekend tradition... I wish I could convince Joshua to run a race...

I also want to send a huge shout out to my fellow Exercise Science Geek Heather, who graduated from Coastal Carolina today! I know this semester hasn't been the easiest, but I am so proud of you! You were definitely being tested in so many ways in the past few weeks, and you kept it all together... you are destined for greatness my friend :)

I was hoping to get this up earlier, but we ended up taking the baby to the doctors this afternoon, diagnosis: conjunctivitis and what may be the beginning of an ear infection... *sigh* she was so tired tonight but just wouldn't go down, she is rocked out now, for how long, I have no idea...

Tomorrow is another day, and another 5k :) Virtual Run Like a Mother 5k should be fun, I love love love the t-shirt... they have onesies too, which I have shown great restraint by not ordering! I also know in honor of Mother's Day, there is a breakfast in store for me after I get done running (canceling out calories...I run to eat!) so hopefully I can get out early... well, with Gabriella, I am sure early won't be an issue!

Guess it's about that time, last feeding for the princess. I hope to get at least 4 hours of straight sleep (this will be included in my nightly prayers) but I don't really know how well that will really work out! Well it is what it is... I've functioned on less sleep so it will all be fine...

The First Tooth has Cometh!

Yay! Gabriella has hit a milestone, her first tooth has poked its ridged little self out of her gum... I noticed it yesterday but I thought I'd share it with my hubby before the rest of the world... It's validation that all of those crazy crying fits, and terror screams were for a good reason! It also confirms, I might just know what I'm doing here...lol I was texting with my sister this morning and told her how I don't remember a lot of these things with Joshua, hell it's been 15 years - I can't remember what day of the week it is half the time!

You have to admit, she is an adorable little bit... Everytime I see her picture I just want to hold her. I really am blessed, and I do thank God for her everyday...

I wondered if it were pure coincidence or good fortune to have realized her tooth's birthday, was also Cinco de Mayo... I guess it will be easier to remember when she asks (because they always do) when she got her first tooth! I honestly can't remember with Joshua, and I'd be lying if I said I had it written down in one of those 'My Babies First Years' books... granted, I did get one of those books, but seriously, I could still regift it if it weren't for the obviously outdated cover... Anyway, in honor of Gabriella's first tooth & Cinco de Mayo (I am not mexican so I am not sure why we feel we need to celebrate it, do people in Mexico celebrate July 4th?) I decided to mix a little something since Gabriella was too pooped to party by 730pm... it was blue and it was fantastic, but I couldn't drink it all - I know, I am sooo out of practice! Not neccessarily a bad thing by the way...lol Cheers!

Another Race Weekend!

So school is done... thank goodness! Of course, right on track with my race calendar (ever expanding, much to my non-existent budgets chagrin), Saturday is the Blue Crab Festival 5k in Little River. I have been meaning to do this race for oh, 5 years... this year I actually registered, back in January, before I had clearance to run.. I sat down one day and basically registered for everything I could find within a 20 mile radius! So motivated, I know.

Apparently, this race starts at 8am, yikes! So I guess that means I will have to have everyone packed up and ready to go by what 7am? Truth be told, I don't even know exactly where Mineola Ave is... thank god for my navigation system (to think I contemplated getting a car without it!) - otherwise I would have had to remember to print a map!

There is something special about this race...oh right, it's the one I plan on breaking through the sub 10min/mile on! The last 2 5k's in April I had a time of 32:17 and 31:19 (I believe...yeah, I went back to verify...lol) so this time around, I so want to break into the 20's... I would love to see a 29 or less but hey a 29:59 would still make me proud... Geez, to think 2 years ago my goal was a 5k under 25...oh well - it's like cutting your hair, you just wait for it to grow out so you can cut it again... so my run time has kinda 'grown out' and I am ready to snip snip!

Brooks Trance 10 (size 8.5, just sayin)

I also received this emails from Dicks Sporting Goods, 20% running gear and free shipping on orders over $100...It's almost like they knew I was in there last week looking at buying a new pair of shoes but instead I bought a pair for my son (who after me ranting about how he hasn't even bothered to run in them, finally did 3miles, and in 23 minutes... beginners luck!) - I am so torn... do I need new shoes? or do I want new shoes? Does it matter? I have a coupon!!! ....sigh.... I don't really need to spend the money is what it comes down to....lol

Anyway, if anyone in the Myrtle Beach area is feeling froggy - like they just want to race this weekend, it's not too late to register for the Blue Crab Festival 5k! It would be awesome to see other smiling faces there...
